Describing a city / town / village - Vocabulary

Altri aggettivi che possiamo sfruttare per descrivere una città.

1. There are people from all over the world in London, it's a very cosmopolitan city.

2. In December, the streets are crowded with hundreds of people doing their Christmas shopping.

3. That area is always deserted at night. It's a bit scary to walk by yourself.

4. I live in a very industrial part of town, with lots of factories.

5. Bath is a very touristy area. A lot of students come here to do summer courses.

6. Cambridge is a historic city. The university buildings are very old.


Things a tourist can do in a town/city:

to stroll (passeggiare)
look at the shop-windows (guardare le vetrine)
buy souvenirs (acquistare souvenir)
buy traditional or hand made objects . . . (acquistare oggetti tradizionali o fatti a mano)

visit a museum / an art gallery / a zoo / a medieval castle . . . (visitare . . .)
go sightseeing (fare una visita turistica della città)
get lost! (perdersi!)

find . . . (trovare . . .)
miss the train / the bus . . . (perdere . . .)
send postcards (mandare cartoline)
practise the language (esercitarsi parlando una lingua straniera)
try new dishes (provare piatti nuovi)
ask for directions (chiedere indicazioni stradali)
consult the map (consultare la mappa)
